It Takes a Village
We are currently not able to accept food donations or food drives until further notice. This is to assure the safety of our volunteers and our clients. Monetary donations are always welcome to fund our food purchases.
People working together keep our doors open and food in the cupboards of those in need. Together we provide food for hundreds of families every month
Many local businesses support us and those we serve through their generous donations of goods as well as financial contributions. We want to acknowledge them and ask you to support them in return!
We do our best to make sure our shoppers have healthy choices. We bring in 2,500 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for our shoppers to take home each week. We follow USDA Healthy Eating Guidelines so our shoppers always find lean protein, dairy, and whole grain choices in our pantry.
Monica, Centre Street Shopper
"I just finished chemo for cancer. Some weeks I can carry my own groceries and some weeks I can’t. Everyone helps me out. Everyone here is super-crazy nice. I’m grateful to be a poor person in Newton. I grew up in Brookline so I didn’t realize what services were available when you run into a financial or health crises. I’m lucky to be here.” Monica's favorite Centre Street item to pick up is our fresh produce. “I love the perfectly ripe tomatoes — the ones you have today.”
