Ten Ways You Can Help Us
We hope you find something to do that’s easy and rewarding.
Join us at an event and then spread the word about it to others.
On September 27th our team will be participating in the Ride and Stride for Food with a group of enthusastic riders and walkers! In the Fall, St. Mary's Episcopal Church will host an uplifting and fun Music for Food event and in November we participate in the annual Newton Turkey Trot. Our 2026 event calendar began with our 15th Anniversary event on March 19th, followed by Empty Bowls at Lasell University on April 10th, our representation in the Boston Marathon on April 19th and on May 3rd our team participated in the Walk for Hunger. These events bring together the Centre Street community and our goal this year is that they collectively raise over $100,000 for our pantry. Your involvement matters!
Offer Your Talent
We are powered by a volunteer board of directors and committee members who work on projects for our operation, marketing, fundraising and client outreach. If you have a talent to offer and/or might be willing to volunteer on a committee, we’d like to hear from you.
Get Your Employer InvolvedYour employer may offer a matching donation to your own, or provide a donation to us based upon your volunteer hours at Centre Street. You can host a team-building activity such as a food drive. Feel free to suggest something else! You can Email our Executive Director

Run a Kids Club or Holiday Food Drive
Organize a food drive to collect food that we cannot get from the Greater Boston Food Bank. This is a great team building activity for a scout, school, or faith group or neighborhood. You can set up a table outside a supermarket or run an event to collect food. Learn more here.
Walk, Ride or Race with Us
You can bike or walk with our team in the Ride and Stride for Food on September 27th or join us in the Newton Turkey Trot in November. Each of these are important fundraisers that are a lot of fun! Learn more here.
Decorate Kids Club Bags
We’ll provide the brown bags and then you decorate them with inspiring messages and art. Imagine the smile on a child’s face when the family receives a Kids Club bag with a rainbow and a wish for a great day! This is a wonderful group activity for all ages. If you’re interested email us.
Donate Brown Paper Grocery Bags
We use hundreds of brown grocery bags each week. Double them up and recycle them for this good cause. You can drop them off at our side door on Furber Lane any Tuesday morning between 10 and Noon. If that’s not convenient, email us to find another time.
Donate
You can give on a monthly basis, support a specific fundraising campaign or anytime you want. We appreciate creative birthday fundraisers or a neighborhood bake sale! Your contributions allow us to purchase food, pay for food truck deliveries, and help us serve thousands of people.
Volunteer
We rely on volunteers to pack bags, distribute groceries or unload food from the Greater Boston Food bank truck. Right now our greatest need is for volunteers to join our Greater Boston Food Bank food unloading team. We also regularly host small groups groups to help clean the pantry or other special projects.
