Technology Lead

The Board of Directors will support the work of the Centre Street Food Pantry by providing leadership and governance for the organization. As part of our mission, all board members are charged with fostering a sensitive, inclusive and accepting environment for our clients, volunteers and supporters.

We are looking for a technology-focused board member who is comfortable with being hands-on with two or more of these skills:

  • Database management and data cleaning

  • GSuite account and drive management

  • Website development or maintenance

  • Salesforce customization

  • A willingness to do configuration and customization of software for our needs

The responsibilities of all Board Members include the following:

Leadership, Governance and Oversight

  1. Understand the mission and values of Centre Street Food Pantry and remain well-informed of its goals, programs, services, strengths and needs. 

  2. Establish the strategic direction of the organization and serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as s/he implements the strategic plan.

  3. Monitor CSFP’s programs and services, reviewing outcomes and metrics to evaluate impact and effectiveness.

  4. Ensure strong financial management and fiscal oversight by reading CSFP's financial statements, audit reports and approving the annual budget.

  5. Be informed and meet all legal responsibilities, as outlined in “3 Legal Duties of Nonprofits”, (available on the Google drive).

  6. Support the Executive Director contribute to his/her annual performance evaluation and if necessary, select a new Executive Director.

  7. Represent CSFP in the community, as an advocate and ambassador for the organization, enhancing its public image.  

  8. Help to identify personal connections that can benefit the organization's standing in the community.

  9. Assist in identifying and recruiting new board members as needed, and help to interview, orient, and mentor new board members when asked.

  10. Ensure CSFP’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflect the communities it serves.

  11. Annually participate in a self-assessment of the board's performance as the governing body.

  12. Help identify personal connections (potential individual donors, corporations and foundations), leverage networks and resources that can benefit the organization's fundraising and resource development goals.

  13.  Participate in and support CSFP’s fundraising events and projects during the year.

 

Board Terms and Participation

  • Serve a three-year board term, with the possibility of reelection after three years, up to a maximum of two consecutive terms (six years).

  • Attend and actively participate in at least 80% of monthly board meetings and prepare for meetings by reviewing the agenda and supporting materials before the meeting.

  • Serve on at least one board committee, take on special assignments when asked and be available for consultation as needed.

  • Be familiar with the operations of the food pantry by occasionally volunteering during pantry hours. 

  • Represent the pantry at community events as needed.

  • Estimated time commitment:  10 hours a month
